Erasmus MC Startups Shine in Academic Competitions

This month TTO celebrates the remarkable achievements of Erasmus MC spin-off and startup companies.

Special congratulations go to YSVOGEL, formerly known as KingFisher, for being selected among the top finalists of the Academic Startup Competition. The team, comprising Jeroen Wilschut, Stefan van Cleef and Willem Mees van der Bijl, is among the ten startups advancing to the final phase. Their journey continues with an exclusive U.S. preparation trip in London, highlighting their innovation, execution power, and growth potential as they refine their strategies for U.S. market entry.

Next month more exciting ventures coming up:

  • Holland Hybrid Heart, focused on the developing a soft, biocompatible artificial heart,
  • OncoChem: innovators of novel FAB inhibitors for cancer imaging and treatment, and top finalists at the LifeSciences@Work Venture Challenge 24/25 Winter Edition

will participate in quick-fire sessions at Healthy Ideas, Healthy Returns (HIHR), an event aimed at elevating the academic biotech ecosystem in the Benelux region through company creation and financing.

The Academic Startup Competition is a prestigious platform for Dutch academic entrepreneurs, offering a chance to compete for a spot among the top 20 most promising science-based startups in the Netherlands. For more information, visit Academic Startup Competition website.
