About

Introduction

My PhD in pediatric endocrinology focused on treatment (at Sophia Children's Hospital, The Netherlands) and genetics (at CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center, Canada) of short children born small for gestational age. After obtaining my fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Canada, I worked as a pediatric endocrinologist for 5 years at the Juliana Children's Hospital and Diabeter. In October 2020 I returned to the Erasmus Sophia Children's Hospital. Currently I am head of the clinic of the Expert Center for Rare Growth Disorders and the principal investigator of several national and international studies.

Field(s) of expertise

I am a co-promotor of a multicenter study assessing the cost-effectiveness of withdrawing growth hormone treatment after mid-puberty in adolescents with idiopathic isolated growth hormone deficiency. I am also the PI in two international studies assessing the efficacy and safety of long-term growth hormone treatment in short children born small for gestational age, Turner syndrome and Noonan syndrome.
