About ir C.M. (Chanmi) Kim

Introduction

Chanmi Kim is a postdoctoral scientific researcher from the Consultation Room 2030 flagship program, which is a convergence research consortium between Erasmus MC, TU Delft, and Erasmus University of Rotterdam. She works on the research line Value Based Healthcare. As part of this program, her research revolves around optimizing hybrid care for palliative patients through technology-mediated solutions with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for both head and neck cancer patients and their family members.

Chanmi is expected to earn her Ph.D. later in 2024 with her dissertation titled 'Creating Digital Healing for Critical Care Patients,' resulting from a collaboration between the University of Twente and Philips Healthcare. Taking a patient-centric, value-based, mood-sensitive, and participatory (co-creation) approach, she proposed a vision for creating a healing ICU environment supporting patient well-being and developed concepts such as personalized virtual nature ambient experiences and AI-enabled therapeutic visual experiences.

Education and career

Chanmi earned her M.Sc. degree with distinction, Cum Laude, for her thesis focusing mood-driven approach to enhance user experience at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology, and later worked as a research engineer at Safran Group.
